Pietersburg club History and Founder

After the end of the war, some of the officers of the British occupation forces who administered the Northern Transvaal from Pietersburg, came together with some local civilian dignitaries to establish a social club for the growing town of Pietersburg now Polokwane.

Founder of Pietersburg Club

Founder of Pietersburg Club was a remarkable man, a role model of what was considered to be the best and most admirable Victorian manhood. From 1901 to the end of the Anglo Boer war he was the Provost Marshall of the Northern Transvaal.

His name will forever be linked to the famous and controversial Breaker Morant trail that took place in Pietersburg in 1901. He was the court-martial prosecutor. Bolton had no legal qualifications or training but held his own against the practicing attorney Thomas, who appeared on behalf of the accuses Australians.
